Avoiding information overload requires a speaker to be a good translator of information. To be a good translator, you can compare an unfamiliar concept with something familiar, give examples from real life, connect your information to current events or popular culture, or supplement supporting material like statistics with related translations of that information. These are just some of the strategies a good speaker can use. While translating information is important for any oral presentation, it is especially important when conveying technical information. Being able to translate complex or technical information for a lay audience leads to more effective informing, because the audience feels like they are being addressed on their level and dont feel lost or talked down to. The History Channel show The Universe provides excellent examples of informative speakers who act as good translators. The scientists and experts featured on the show are masters of translating technical information, like physics, into concrete examples that most people can relate to based on their everyday experiences. It is a team effort and something that directly impacts on all students, staff, and our community. Students were considerate of the spaces of congestion in and around our corridors, passage ways and locker spaces, in particular those students relocated to the cubbies end of the school. Students demonstrated patience and respect when moving to and from their lockers which was great to see. The line up at the canteen was spaced and orderly, and those waiting for the buses used hand sanitiser and distanced themselves before boarding on their bus to go home from school. Thankyou. As was a highlight of the college, and most definitely a focus of our attention during Remote Learning was to support students in accessing their learning.

My collegues and I have always found a very significant number of adults clients in therapy for childhood trauma that have reported diagnoses of Chronic Fatigue syndrome. As many as one fourth of our clients at times, in a large metro area have this disease. Therefore, we believed long ago that there was a relationship between this disease and childhood traumas. It is also explains why there are more females with this disease: More females experience long term molestion and repeated molestations in childhood. Several studies have found that children who were raped and taken to hospitals for treatment do not remember the events later in life. Therefore, some people may have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome from childabuse incidents that they do not remember. Our society has a large network of individuals who want to deny the severity of the repercussions of childabuse, so perhaps this is where the resistence to believing this study's validity orignates. 2009 IACFS/ME conference Submitted by Erik Johnson on March 22, 2009 8:11am.
